    Epson provides drivers and printer utilities for Windows and macOS for many models through its support site. These often include nozzle check and head cleaning tools.

  • A note on names

    App and utility names, and which printers they support, change over time. Download Epson software only from Epson’s official website or your device’s official app store.

Notes for Epson owners

  • Locate the model name. Epson printers usually show the model on the front or top of the case, and the full name or series can also appear on a label on the back. Write it down before looking for drivers, ink or manuals.

  • Stick to official downloads. Lookalike sites may offer “Epson setup” downloads or phone support that is not from Epson. Never give remote access or payment details to an unsolicited caller or pop-up. Most computers can add an Epson printer with built-in drivers; see add a printer to a computer.

  • Firmware updates. Many Epson printers can update firmware from the control panel or through Epson software. Read the description of any update first and keep the printer powered on until it finishes.

  • Maintenance tools and printhead care. Nozzle checks, head cleaning and alignment are typically under a Maintenance menu on the printer, in the Epson Smart Panel app or in the computer driver’s utility tab. Because the printhead is usually part of the printer, clean conservatively and follow the manual on how many cycles to run. EcoTank models may also include an ink flush or power cleaning option intended for specific situations.

Why does my Epson printer show a maintenance or ink pad message?

Inkjets collect waste ink from cleaning in an internal absorber. When it nears capacity, some Epson models display a message and may need service. Check your model’s documentation or Epson’s support site.

Can I refill an EcoTank with any ink?

Epson specifies particular ink bottles for each EcoTank model. Using other inks may cause problems and could affect warranty coverage, so check your manual.
